Physical Activity in NCD Prevention and Control

This course is designed to provide an intensive immersion in PAH for individuals who have not studied the topic before.

Entry requirements

Undergraduate Honours Degree in relevant discipline including medicine, physical activity for health, sports health, sports science. If English is not the 1st language applicants should have an IELTS score of 7.0 (no individual score below 6.0).

Course modules

The course is structured around 6 20 credit modules at SCQF Level 11 and 1 60 credit dissertation module (Research Project) at SQCF Level 11. Semester 1:3 20 credit modules: introduction to physical activity for health, quantative research methods and mind, body and physical activity. Semester 2: 3 x 20 credit modules: contemporary debates in physical activity for health, physical activity and mental health, physical activity in specialist population groups. Dissertation: 1 60 credit module research project in physical activity for health. There is an emphasis on self-directed learning on this programme under the guidance of research led academic in PAH. The intention of this programme is to integrate a small cohort of PGI students into the PAH Group and encourage them to progress to PhD study.
