Research activity has particular concentration in 4 main fields: macroeconomics: applied macro-modelling; regional macro-modelling; macro policy; international finance; developing countries; technology policy; stabilisation policy; development planning models; trade policy; export instability; industrial economics: merger activity and policy; regulation of the professions; transactions cost economics; research and development activity; technical progress, institutional and evolutionary perspective on the firm; multinational enterprise, ethnic minority enterprise and small business enterprise; regional economics: macroeconomic aspects of regional economics; regional input-output modelling and analysis; regional computable general equilibrium modelling; regional policy; Scottish economy; other areas of research interest include applied econometrics; environmental economics and health economics.
