Global Sustainable Cities

The course has a focus on tackling major urban opportunities and issues. It is designed to give students a holistic understanding of how cities operate and provide them with the tools to redesign city systems, raise funding, and gain political and citizen support for transformative city strategies and projects.

Entry requirements

An upper 2nd Class Honours degree in a relevant subject is required. Given the breadth of the new Master's degree relevant subjects include engineering, business studies, environmental studies, architecture, urban design, economics, geography, sociology, politics, public policy, and international studies (other subjects may also be considered). Applications are also welcomed from candidates with strong career experience in a relevant field. Applicants whose 1st language is not English should have IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 90.

Course modules

Modules include: Global cities: society and sustainability; city systems and infrastructure; understanding and modelling cities; city design and planning; public policy, governance and strategic change; business models, financing and urban business case analysis; leadership skills for urban change; elective classes; transformative city projects.
