Health Information Management

Health informatics is one of the fastest growing areas within healthcare and there are huge opportunities for innovative IT projects to improve patient care. This part-time course specifically aims to develop IT and business skills among health professionals in the North East. We have developed the content in collaboration with senior NHS managers and we regularly invite them to provide guest lectures and share their insights.

Entry requirements

Honours degree; experience of, and skills in, health information as well as appropriate levels of numeracy and literacy; the student's application must be endorsed by his/her employer.

Course modules

Modules include: Health information systems; application building; health information systems analysis; health services information environment; current health information issues; research skills and academic literacy; masters project. Optional modules: database systems; decision support management; project management and control; professional work based learning.

Funding from NHS for NHS employees working within the Northern and Yorkshire region.
