International Events Management
Across this global industry, it is recognised that the events sector needs trained professionals if it is to continue to thrive and develop. This programme provides you with both the education and training to become a professional event manager, capable of organising both small and large scale events. Through a balanced set of modules, you will gain advanced understanding in how the event industry works and develop expertise in planning and managing different events. You will have the opportunity to enhance your knowledge and skills, specifically in relation to the international events industry and also in the core areas of business and management generally.
Applicants should normally hold a Bachelors degree (UK 2.1 or above) or equivalent qualification from a recognised British or overseas university. Relevant work experience could be an additional benefit where applicants have not reached the standard entry requirements, although it is not an admissions requirement for this particular degree programme. Higher level professional qualifications may also be accepted. Each applicant is assessed on their own merit. Students whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent (with a minimum 6.0 in each component).
Compulsory modules: Research methods; event design and production; event services marketing; understanding the events industry; project management; event operations management; accounting and finance for business. Elective modules: Conference and exhibition management; marketing communications; event volunteer management; ethics and corporate social responsibility.
Assessment methods include unseen, time-constrained written examinations, as well as individual and group work.
