International Hotel Management

This programme focuses on the operation, delivery and management of successful hotel (and hotel related) services worldwide. An integral aim of the programme is to encourage you to consider hospitality management from a range of perspectives. Successful hotels are increasingly recognising that they can thrive and gain real competitive advantage from the effective management of assets, competences and capabilities. Through this programme, you will gain the ability to identify and understand the key decisions facing hospitality managers, as well as evaluate alternative approaches to the management of the areas mentioned above.

Example module listing: research methods; hospitality tourism and events operating systems; hospitality services marketing; organisational behaviour; accounting and finance for business; strategic management of international hotel companies; dissertation; business plan for hospitality and tourism; asset management; consumer behaviour; revenue management; ethics and corporate social responsibility; current issues in hotel development and management.

Assessment methods

Assessment includes a dissertation.

For all (with the exception of MBA) postgraduate taught courses starting in September 2017 within the Surrey Business School and the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management we are offering all applicants who hold a 2:1 honours degree or equivalent the opportunity to be awarded between £2,000 and £4,000 through the Surrey International Scholarship for Excellence Scheme.
