International Events Management
There is global recognition that the events sector needs trained professionals if it is to continue to thrive and develop. This programme offers you an engaging environment in which to explore the challenges faced by events professionals. A balanced set of modules will provide you with an advanced understanding of the international events industry and the core areas of business and management generally. A series of challenging, creative, real-world assessments will teach you how to design, plan, stage and evaluate different events. Central to the learning experience is the requirement to run a live event yourself.
Example module listing: dissertation; research methods; events design and production; services marketing: events; understanding the events industry; event operations management; project management; financial management; marketing communication; conference and exhibition management; event workforce and volunteer management; ethics and CSR; business plan for hospitality and tourism.
Assessment methods include unseen, time-constrained written examinations, as well as individual and group work.
For all (with the exception of MBA) postgraduate taught courses starting in September 2017 within the Surrey Business School and the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management we are offering all applicants who hold a 2:1 honours degree or equivalent the opportunity to be awarded between £2,000 and £4,000 through the Surrey International Scholarship for Excellence Scheme.
