Information Systems

This course blends recent advances in IT, the internet and web technologies with business applications, revealing how better information systems can increase productivity, improve decision-making and lead to a significant competitive advantage. This course is for students who will assume responsibility for the planning, design and implementation of information systems.

Entry requirements

Candidates should have a 1st degree in a relevant discipline from a UK university or the international equivalent. They should have obtained the degree at 2.2 level or higher. In exceptional circumstances, work experience may also be considered if the candidate has achieved less than a 2.2 in their 1st degree. Students whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or equivalent (with a minimum 6.0 in each component).

Course modules

Compulsory modules: Agile web development; database systems; information systems development; dissertation. Optional modules: Big data analytics; cloud computing; enterprise systems development; HTML5 and CSS3 for mobile applications; information security for business and government; information security management; project management and business strategy; practical business analytics.

Assessment methods

Assessment inclused the completion of a dissertation project.
