Mobile Communications Systems
Our course gives students a thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical engineering aspects of this rapidly changing field as well as new emerging systems for support of broadband mobile internet.
A good Honours degree in electronic engineering, mathematics, computing or physical sciences. Our minimum entry level is a 2.2 from a good UK university, or overseas equivalent. Relevant industrial experience will also be considered.English language requirements: IELTS minimum overall: 6.5; IELTS minimum by component: 6.0. Intensive English language pre-sessional courses, designed to take students to the level of English ability and skill required for studies are available.
Compulsory modules: Data and internet networking; digital communications; dissertation; mobile communications A; mobile communications B; principles of telecom and packet networks. Optional modules: Advanced signal processing; mathematics of signal processing; mobile applications and web services; network and service management and control; operating systems for mobile systems programming; radio frequency (RF) systems and circuit design; satellite communications A; the internet of things.
Assessment methods include a dissertation and projects.
