Creative and Critical Writing
Students will normally have a 1st- or upper 2nd-Class undergraduate Honours degree or, in exceptional cases, be able to provide evidence of equivalent professional or artistic experience. Applications must be accompanied by a short sample of recent, unpublished writing (creative or critical).
Modules may include (choose 2): Creativity and utopia; deconstruction and creative writing; Marxism and creative writing; psychoanalysis and creative writing; sexuality and creative writing; voices in the archives: Writing from history. Supervised work on the dissertation is undertaken in the final semester, which normally includes both critical discussion and creative writing.
*You are assessed by 5000-word term papers and a dissertation of up to 15000 words, of which up to 10000 words may be creative writing.
