Air Transport Operations and Management

This course is designed to meet the increasing demand for aviation professionals within the expanding air transport operations sector of this global industry. the course gives a thorough grounding in management principles, practices and techniques which are strongly contextualised to aviation business applications, especially through case studies. The experience will provide motivated, innovative and creative graduates with the professional abilities and managerial potential necessary to compete for employment in a wide range of worthwhile careers within this exciting industry. The course is taught by a mix of aviation and management specialists and guest lectures, industrial visits and group working. To achieve the award of MSc you will need to complete a major individual research project.

Entry requirements

UK equivalent Honours degree at level 2.1, and not less than level 2.2 in a science, engineering or technology discipline, or an equivalent professional qualification. International students require an IELTS score of 6.5 or above or other appropriate English Language Qualification with a minimum score of 6 in each of the 4 language skills tested � listening, reading, writing and speaking.

Course modules

It is possible to study individual modules for personal or professional development, or work towards the PgCert, PgDip or full Masters degree PgCert: Core modules may include Operations management; Corporate and competitive strategy; option modules which may include: Airline crisis and active safety management; Aircraft maintenance operations and management PgDip:Strategic marketing; Quality and safety management. Option modules may include: Airport infrastructure and ground operations management; Airline flight operations and fleet planning. MSc: Research dissertation.
