Ecotourism

The course will enable students to work with or as professional outdoor guides, ecotourism business consultants and leading academics in the field, to enhance their knowledge, critical thinking and innovative product development ability in the industry. The Degree is delivered in the Highlands and via summer/winter schools, by ecotourism and adventure industry experts. Students have access to outstanding ecotourism operations and adventure travel businesses set amongst great mountain scenery and the UK's most stunning coastline.

Entry requirements

An Honours degree, or applicants with other qualifications and/or relevant professional experience will be considered on an individual basis.

Course modules

PgCert: Core modules are: Ecotourism; tourism policy and management; sustainable tourism; understanding the tourist experience; nature-based destination development. PgDip: People and nature; environmental and social issues in mountain areas; Research methods and techniques (required for continuing to the award of MSc). MSc: dissertation.

Sponsorship information

Tuition fee loans (for full-time and part-time students) and living costs loans (full-time students only) to study up to PgDip level may be available for eligible applicants from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS)
