The institution

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David is a multi-campus university first founded in Lampeter in 1822.  Our main campuses in Swansea, Carmarthen and Lampeter offer a great mix of history and culture with modern facilities and excellent teaching staff. We pride ourselves on the quality and level of support that we offer to all of our students and believe that this, combined with strong industry links, enables our students to make the most of their time with us. The latest figures show that 97% of our UK postgraduate students were in employment and/or further study, 6 months after graduation and the institution was ranked number 1 out of 35 institutions for Personal Tutor Support in the Global ISBSB Autumn Wave 2014.

Postgraduate study

We offer a wide range of postgraduate study opportunities, covering many areas of the Humanities, Business, Education, Engineering, the Arts and Social Sciences. Whether you have recently completed an undergraduate degree, are pursuing a life-long interest, or you are seeking a career change or promotion, you can choose from our range of postgraduate qualifications, many of which offer a choice of part-time, full-time or online/distance learning. Every year we welcome students of all ages, from around the world, so whatever your background or motivation, postgraduate study at UWTSD will offer you great intellectual and personal satisfaction and enjoyment.

We offer more than 250 different Postgraduate qualifications across our five academic faculties.  You can choose from postgraduate certificates through to taught Master’s and professional doctorates.  Most of our courses are available part-time and many can be studied via blended learning or online. 

We place a strong emphasis on Enterprise and Entrepreneurship throughout everything that we do and offer every student the chance to learn to be entrepreneurial and to engage with industry and in 2014/15 almost 100 students started their own business. Research excellence in Archaeology, History, Anthology, Art, Applied Design, Classics, Celtic Studies, Religious Studies, Environmental Sciences, Education, Psychology, Engineering and Applied Computing forms the foundation of our internal multidisciplinary research and innovation activity.


The University offers a wide range of facilities across all campuses, from the Roderick Bowen Library and Archives in Lampeter which house The Special Collections, to the new Alex Design Exchange in Swansea.  Each of our main campuses offer all of the usual facilities you would expect; libraries, cafes, quiet study areas, the Students’ Union and specialist equipment relevant to the subjects on offer. 

In Lampeter, the Roderic Bowen Library houses the University’s oldest printed books, manuscripts and archives and is one of the principal resources for academic research in Wales.  The Special Collections include medieval and post-medieval manuscripts and incunabula that have been acquired over the past 200 years. 

In Swansea, students in the Faculty of Architecture, Computing and Engineering have access to state-of-the-art testing equipment and CAD programmes, while the new Alex Design Exchange is a wonderful space for designers and artists, full of specialist equipment and large studio spaces.
