University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD)
This programme builds upon existing craft and applied arts traditions, and expands and adapts them to address the requirements of the time; fashion trends, cultural movements, new materials and technologies are challenging and pushing boundaries and demanding new creative innovations in craft and applied arts; this is a research, practice led and studio based course, for which students are expected to apply advanced skills using traditional, new materials and technologies; the programme develops and expand the individual�s entrepreneurial skills, in order to apply this knowledge to explore future commercial opportunities; students have the opportunity to develop and enhance their skills as makers of individual bespoke objects, designers of batch products or as designer-maker artists working to commissions.
A 1st degree, normally a 2.1 and above in a relevant discipline or appropriate experience which is relevant to the programme of study.
All years: contemporary visual culture and discourse; creativity, innovation and enterprise; personal practice 2 (re-construction and discovery); applied arts practice; personal practice (major creative project); dissertation.
Assessment is through coursework.
