This programme aims to reconcile consumer needs with manufacturing possibilities; it is concerned with the advancement of innovative paradigms for new product development; it does this by allowing students to explore alternative design methodologies in an increasingly digital field; the programme places a strong emphasis on the use of the latest computer aided design tools and rapid prototyping technologies; the lecture programme extends to embrace all the aspects of human environment, which are conditioned by industrial production in order to determine the formal qualities of objects produced in industry.
An Honours degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline; command of spoken and written English to meet the demands of the programme (eg TOEFL 550 or equivalent).
Rapid product development; research methods; visual communication; design exploration; contemporary issues in design.
Assessment by: coursework; examinations; dissertation.
