Secondary Education (Chemistry with Science)
The course covers training in a wide variety of teaching techniques with opportunities to try ideas out in the partner schools; the course provides students with training to teach chemistry up to the A- and AS-level examinations and all the sciences up to at least year 9 of the secondary school.
Degree in chemistry or a related subject and GCSEs or equivalent in mathematics and English at grade C or above; Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) enhanced disclosure.
Curriculum studies; information communications technology (ICT) in subject teaching; professional studies.
During the year the students' complete and submit coursework assignments in both their curriculum studies subject; during school placements teachers and tutors formally observe and assess a number of the students' lessons and at the end of each term the students receive a written report which summarises their progress towards meeting the required standard.
