Secondary Education (Spanish with French)
The course trains students to teach Spanish and French to all ages and abilities from 11 to 18; the emphasis is on interaction, critical reflection, high linguistic levels, imagination and hard work; there are opportunities to develop subject knowledge through small group work with native speakers and information communications technology (ICT).
A degree in at least 1 of the modern foreign languages to be taught; GCSEs or equivalent in mathematics and English at grade C or above; native speakers should have a university degree, normally English; Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) enhanced disclosure.
Curriculum studies; information communications technology (ICT) in subject teaching; professional studies.
During the year the students' complete and submit coursework assignments in both their curriculum studies subject; during school placements teachers and tutors formally observe and assess a number of the students' lessons and at the end of each term the students receive a written report which summarises their progress towards meeting the required standard.
