University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD Swansea)
The programme covers the general business and management curriculum, with an opportunity to specialise in education management. All students are encouraged to apply concepts learned as well as become familiar with theoretical paradigms. The content covers how to manage and lead organisations effectively in education through the development of abilities, extension of knowledge and understanding of a wide range of management skills, ideas and theories. This programme is designed for students from a wide variety of backgrounds who are seeking international career opportunities in education through the development of their managerial abilities.
A recognised Honours degree or equivalent. A professional qualification. Applicants who do not meet the above criteria may be admitted to the course provided their professional or managerial experience is deemed to be appropriate. Applicants who have been awarded a diploma in business administration at distinction level, or an equivalent postgraduate, post experience management diploma at credit level 7 may be admitted with exemption from modules in part 1. IELTS at 6.0.
Part 1: Financial management; human resource management; marketing management; strategic management; students study 2 pathway specific modules; leadership and management in education; implementing coaching and mentoring. Part 2: Students are required to undertake an in-depth business research exercise. All students attend a research methods workshop. Following the submission of a research proposal, they are allocated a supervising tutor with whom they will communicate regularly and who will support them throughout the process.
Modules are assessed by coursework. This may take various forms, work based projects, small research projects, presentations, case study analysis and the dissertation.
