Financial Management (Professional Learning and Development)
This programme provides educators with the opportunity to develop their technical competencies in the field of financial management and to immerse themselves in current issues in the fields of accounting and financial management. The aim is to support students as they develop their ability in teaching and understanding of student learning and their ability to make judgments about their professional educational practice. It will allow students the opportunity to develop their technical competencies in the field of financial management and to immerse themselves in current issues in the fields of accounting and financial management. It will also enable students to develop their skills and knowledge of the processes of teaching and learning.
An Honours degree or equivalent. A professional qualification. Applicants who do not meet the above criteria may be admitted to the course provided they have significant professional or managerial experience deemed appropriate for the programme. Applicants who have a relevant professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ACA ) at credit level 7 may be admitted with exemption from modules in part 1.
Part 1: Financial management; strategic management; contemporary issues in corporate reporting; contemporary issues in performance management; corporate governance; leadership and management in education. Part 2: Dissertation; students are required to undertake an in-depth business research exercise. All students attend a research methods workshop.
Modules are assessed by coursework. This may take various forms, work-based projects, small research projects, presentations, case study analysis and the dissertation.
