Ancient Visual and Material Culture
All students take the core course in Understanding Ancient Visual and Material Culture; this looks at the historiographical and methodological issues affecting the study of ancient material culture and its reception; all students also take a language option, to develop the linguistic skills necessary to conduct research (Latin or ancient Greek, or French, German, Italian), depending on their research needs and interests.
Minimum 2.1 undergraduate degree in classics, ancient history, history of art, or a related subject; IELTS 7.0, TOEFL iBT 100 or PTE 70 for applicants whose 1st language is not English.
1 core module; optional modules allow students to develop their interests in particular aspects of the subject: Art; numismatics; or epigraphy; in more depth; language component; 15000-20000 word dissertation.
