This course provides an innovative and highly flexible framework in which modules chosen from a wide range of health care specialisms and themes can be combined to meet student's professional development needs; the aim of these courses is to enable healthcare professionals to build on their previous knowledge and advanced practical experience, and to widen access to quality education at Master's level to the whole range of healthcare professions; the courses provide high-quality qualifications with currency in the health service marketplace in order to enhance career development, and meet the specific and general strategic needs of the National Service Frameworks; the course equips students with the advanced skills and knowledge needed to implement evidence-based practice, establish and support the interface between academic research and clinical practice, and enable continuing professional development and continuing into professional medical education.
Candidates must satisfy the Board of Graduate Studies requirements for entry; normally, candidates should have obtained an Honours degree or a final qualification of a professional society acceptable to the university; candidates without a degree are admitted to a postgraduate award (PGA) and may progress upon successful completion of the award; candidates also are considered if they have other appropriate professional qualifications and at least 2 years experience in an appropriate healthcare setting.
