Diabetes and the Eye (Other Ocular Diseases)
This is a 5-day taught module followed by an assignment and is available as a stand-alone PGA or as a module within the MSC diabetes; this module is intended to give students a clear understanding of the concepts and theories surrounding the issues of diabetes and the eye; the teaching and learning style is interactive, drawing on both the expert teachers and the experience of the student's; this course aims to convey an in-depth and reliable knowledge and advanced understanding of all the clinically relevant facets of other lesions in diabetic retinal screening; enable students to meet the needs of the Diabetes National Service Framework as it relates to patients with diabetic complications in this area; and to enable students to manage risk factors for other eye disease (other than diabetic retinopathy) in people with diabetes.
2.2 Honours in a 1st degree of an approved university in a relevant discipline or disciplines; students with a 1st language that is not English are expected to obtain 1 of the following recognised English language qualifications: IELTS (British council international testing system) of at least 6.5 with 6.5 in reading and writing; TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) of at least 92 (internet-based iBT); PTE 62.
