International Health Policy
This is a 5-day taught module followed by an assignment and is available as a stand-alone PGA or as a module within the MSC child health or as an optional module on the MSc health sciences programme; this module is of special interest and value to those who anticipate pursuing their careers in different countries and those whose professional development would benefit from a better appreciation of relevant ideas, trends and practices in parallel locations across the world; the overall aim of the module is to enhance the contribution of health professionals, planners and managers to both the development and delivery of public health and health care policy, from both statutory and non-statutory settings, through relevant gains in knowledge of global policy content; awareness and understanding of international developments, and the ability to appraise and apply policy models and methodologies.
2.2 Honours in a 1st degree of an approved university in a relevant discipline or disciplines; students with a 1st language that is not English are expected to obtain 1 of the following recognised English language qualifications: IELTS (British council international testing system) of at least 6.5 with 6.5 in reading and writing; TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) of at least 92 (internet-based iBT), PTE 62, CAE 60+ or CPE.
