Diabetes (Paediatrics)

This programme is dedicated to healthcare professionals working with children and adolescents with diabetes. It aims to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to provide high quality care for your young patients and support for their parents or carers.

Entry requirements

First degree or equivalent and current registration as a healthcare professional and at least 2 years post-registration experience in diabetes and paediatrics; candidates without a degree are admitted to a postgraduate award (PGA) and may progress upon successful completion of the award.

Course modules

Modules include: Management of diabetes in adolescence; other forms of diabetes (from genetics to obesity); type 1 diabetes in children; understanding research and critical appraisal in health care.

Assessment methods

Assessment for each module usually takes the form of a 4,000 word essay. For the MSc, the Professional Project is assessed by a project report of 8,000-10,000 words; the dissertation is 15,000-20,000 words
