Health Sciences (Retinal Screening, Diabetes)

The course enables students to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve excellence of care for people with diabetes; diabetes and its long term vascular complications are on the increase in the UK and worldwide; diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of blindness in developed countries and is asymptomatic until advanced stages; therefore, it is vital that professionals who care for people with diabetes enhance their knowledge and skills in order to achieve excellence of care in line with the National Service Framework for Diabetes and other national guidelines.

Entry requirements

Candidates must satisfy the Board of Graduate Studies requirements for entry; normally, candidates should have obtained an Honours degree or a final qualification of a professional society acceptable to the university; candidates without a degree are admitted to a postgraduate award (PGA) and may progress upon successful completion of the award; candidates also are considered if they have other appropriate professional qualifications and at least 2 years experience in an appropriate healthcare setting.
