Principal research interests/groups: civil and mechanical engineering; appropriate technology and development studies; civil engineering; fluid dynamics and thermodynamics; optical engineering; precision engineering and materials; dynamical systems modelling and control; electrical and electronic engineering; electric power systems; expert, intelligent and safety critical systems; signal and image processing; silicon sensors and electronic noses; ultrasonic transducers and systems; VLSI, ASICs and programmable devices; interdisciplinary research possible; substantial proportion of research is performed in close collaboration with UK industry and institutes outside Britain.
Upper 2nd Class Honours degree required; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 92 or PTE 62.
