Food Security

This course will give you an understanding of the elements that contribute to the food security agenda. This is especially important when one of our most significant challenges is to provide the world's population with access to affordable, safe and nutritious food. The course will appeal if you want to influence global food security and enjoy contributing to cutting-edge research.

Entry requirements

Bachelor's degree in a bioscience, environmental science or another appropriate discipline (minimum 2nd Class Honours degree from a British university or equivalent from an overseas university); IELTS 6.5, TOEFL (iBT) 92, PTE 62, CAE 60+ or CPE required for applicants whose 1st language is not English.

Course modules

Modules include: Crop physiology and production; advances in crop production; soil, water and mineral nutrition; environmental accounting; climate change; challenges of global food security; organic and low input systems; project/work placement.

Sponsorship information

A bursary (deduction from tuition fees) is available to students studying this course full-time(£1,500 to UK and EU students; £1,300 to international [non-EU] students); scholarships worth £2,000 and £3000 are also available; to apply for a scholarship the student must be in receipt of an offer to study on this course at the University of Warwick; the closing date for scholarship applications is 30th June 2010.
