Visual and Material Culture of Ancient Rome

This course enables students to apply the study of ancient material and visual culture to a particular historical and geographical context. Students will undertake specialist research training in art, numismatics and epigraphy that will equip them for further PhD study in these fields, or for a career in museum work or education.

Entry requirements

At least a 2.1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in classics, ancient history or a related area. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 7.0.

Course modules

Core modules: approaching ancient visual and material culture; language. Optional modules: classical epigraphy; art of the ancient world; ancient numismatics.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include: essays, coursework, exams.
