Music Industry Management and Artist Development

The course provides the student with the opportunity of studying the key concepts of managing and developing their own career, or the career of an act which they represent, under the direction of a team of industry professionals with a unique insight and unprecedented experience in the field; the course modules have been specifically developed to meet the demand from students for the knowledge to develop their entrepreneurial and transferable skills to help develop new businesses within the music industry, or to help secure employment within specialist sectors of the music industry; students develop the skills to set up their own small record labels, administrate their copyrights, facilitate live events, develop their careers professionally and equally in today�s marketplace, and maintain their health.

Entry requirements

2.2 Honours degree in music, music technology or a related subject; or substantial industry experience; portfolio of degree-level / professional work; written statement; applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.5 or above, at a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components, TOEFL internet-based test 90 or above, Pearson PTE Academic 58 or above, or an equivalent secure English language test.

Course modules

Modules include: Independent label management; developing their career; leadership and creativity; research methods; live event management; artist and repertoire; copyright and law; dissertation or project.
