Advanced Practice (Leadership)

The course is aimed at all health and social care staff who are looking to develop their knowledge and skills as leaders within their workplace. Over the past decade, the emergence of tools such as the Leadership Qualities Framework, and the work on developing leadership skills in the workplace undertaken by the Institute for Innovation have firmly placed the requirement to demonstrate excellent and sound leadership skills as a key element of person specifications and essential attributes for senior roles within the sector. This course is likely to appeal to a wide range of professionals, for example, senior or consultant nurses (or those hoping to move into that role), community matrons/ caseload managers, social work team leaders, managers from prison and probation service, and team leaders working in the public and independent health care sectors.

Entry requirements

Applicants will need a first degree or equivalent professional qualification. If you do not have a first degree, but possess substantial work experience, you are still invited to apply. In these cases, you will be asked to present a portfolio and qualifying essay, to demonstrate your potential for studying at Master's level. You will also need to submit an extended curriculum vitae which must demonstrate evidence of personal and professional development. International students need to meet our English language requirement at either IELTS at 7.0 or above, and a minimum of 7.0 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening). Pearson PTE Academic at score 58 or above, or an equivalent secure English language test. In some countries where teaching is in English, we may accept local qualifications.
