International Tourism and Aviation Management

A strategic perspective is taken throughout the course, emphasising the application of business and management theory; it develops key ideas and concepts appropriate to the commercial aviation industry and uses case studies to illustrate these points; extensive use is made of the surrounding aviation infrastructure in the West London area, in particular London Heathrow airport.

Entry requirements

Applicants need a UK Honours degree 2.2 or equivalent, in airline, aviation or tourism, or an equivalent professional qualification; applicants require a minimum of 800 hours' (35 weeks') work experience in the airline or tourism sector; the course also welcomes applications from mature students with considerable work experience but without the formal academic qualifications; applicants whose 1st language is not English require either IELTS 6.5 or above including a minimum 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components, TOEFL internet-based test 90 or above, Pearson PTE Academic 58 or above, or an equivalent secure English language test.

Course modules

Modules include: Strategic management for the airline and airport industry; critical issues in commercial aviation management; globalisation and global challenges; leadership and management; e-commerce; organisation behaviour in theory and practice; management consultancy. Optional modules include: project management; intercultural communication in the business environment; services marketing; corporate social responsibility and business ethics; enterprise and innovation.
