Real Estate Development

This course addresses the property development and appraisal process, encompassing the financial, physical, legal and social aspects. Students analyse development situations and respond to development problems with derived solutions. As part of the development finance and funding module, students undertake a study trip to New York.

Entry requirements

A good Honours degree (2.2 or above), or membership of a professional body whose entry requirements are equivalent to graduate level, and ideally some relevant practical experience. Applications from candidates with degrees in geography, economics, a science, a property-related discipline or law are welcomed. Applicants whose 1st language is not English should have an IELTS score of 6.5.

Course modules

Modules include: Dissertation; development finance and funding; finance and asset management; law for property professionals; project implementation process; site assembly and development; space strategies and legislation.Optional modules: Landlord and tenant; property finance (lending and risk strategies); valuation; law.

Assessment methods

Assessment methods include coursework, presentations, portfolios and individual and team working. Students are required to pass the core and optional modules.
