Design for Communication
This programme reflects the multidisciplinary nature of contemporary communications, bringing together key subject disciplines in visual communication including graphic design, animation, digital media and illustration. The course helps students to develop the analytical skills and generate conceptual thinking needed to prepare for high-level professional practice.
A good 1st Class Honours degree or a professional qualification in an area of art, design or visual media. Applicants with degrees in other disiplines should demonstrate knowledge of visual art or design. UK applicants need to attend an interview with the course team, whilst those from overseas will be asked to submit a portfolio either by post or electronically; for those whose 1st language is not English an attainment of at least IELTS 6.5 or equivalent should be demonstrated; the University offers pre-sessional summer programmes for those who need to improve their English before starting the course.
Course content include: core modules; business for design; critical debates in design; design project a: visual identity; design project b: design authorship; design research methods; major project/exhibition.
