International Media Business
This programme explores the issues present in the international media environment. Students on this course study media markets, business strategies, social marketing and sociology of the news to identify conditions in the commercial environment.
A good Honours degree (2.1 or above). Applications from candidates without formal qualifications but with relevant professional experience are welcomed. Candidates should be able to write and speak fluent English. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.5 in the writing element. Applicants taking the TOEFL equivalent require 600 overall in the paper-based test (PBT) and 92 in the TOEFL internet-based test (IBT ), including at least 20 in the writing element. Applicants may additionally be asked to write 500 words on a topic assigned by the University.

Semester 1 option modules: media operations; study skills; global media; political analysis of communications policy; technology and communications policy; media business strategy; media audiences; political communication; sex, violence and politics; social marketing; sociology of news. Semester 2 option modules: Chinese media; media audiences; development and communications policy; sex, violence and politics; sociology of news.
