This course equips students with the skills and knowledge required to work with embedded systems. Students on this programme develop an understanding of the practical realities of real systems. They also acquire knowledge in specialist subjects including Digital Signal Processing (DSP), communications, mechatronics and requirements engineering.
A good Honours degree from a UK university in computer engineering, computer science with a knowledge of computer hardware, or in electronic engineering with some programming experience. Applications from candidates with relevant work experience are welcomed. Applicants whose 1st language is not English should have an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.
Core modules: embedded system design; individual project; integrated digital systems design; real-time environments; DSP and communication processor design; DSP design and applications; embedded media processing; multirate signal processing; SoC and FPGA design project; video and image processing.
Assessment is based on presentations, technical discussions, project work and formal reports. Each module is assessed through the submission of a completed portfolio of work and its defence in a viva voce exam.
