Electronics and Computer Science
Students on this course investigate new areas of computational systems engineering; semantic computing, electronics and communications engineering and healthcare informatics. The research activities concentrate in 4 research clusters: electronic and communication engineering research, operational research and intelligent systems, parallel and distributed computing research, semantic computing and system engineering research, parallel and distributed computing.
Minimum 2.1 in a 1st degree or equivalent; Master's degree (or Master's degree pending); applicants whose 1st language is not English require IELTS scores of 6.5 or equivalent.
Research topics include: computational systems engineering; semantic computing; electronics and communications engineering; healthcare informatics; flosc: forecasting length of stay and cost in long-term care for elderly people; low power continuous time sigma-delta adc; perform: research and development of a system for monitoring neurodegenerative disease evolution; v-angel: virtual assistant for nursing and guidance of elderly; w-grass: Westminster grid application research and support service; operational research and communication engineering; digital signal processing and vlsi; communications and compunetics; cluster and grid computing; distributed and intelligent systems.
