Finance Banking and Insurance

This programme is designed to give a broad introduction to areas of finance, international finance, financial services, investment banking, retail banking, insurance, re-insurance and hedged funds as private client advisors and financial analysis both in the public and private sectors.

Entry requirements

A good Honours degree (2.2 or above) in accounting, finance, insurance, economics, business studies or social science, or international equivalent. Graduates with other UK Honours degrees (2.2 or above) or the overseas equivalent are required to provide evidence of quantitative skills and computer literacy. Applications from students with a UK or overseas professional accountancy qualifications (ACCA, CIMA, etc) are also encouraged to apply. Applicants whose 1st language is not English require an IELTS score of 6.5, with a minimum score of 6 in each element.

Course modules

Core modules: compliance and law in banking and insurance; global banking; insurance markets and operations; international risk management; modern finance; research methods; project option modules: advanced topics in insurance markets; banking risk and operations; financial derivatives; financial markets and institutions; fixed income analysis and trading; forecasting markets and risk modelling; international financial reporting; modern portfolio management.
