Human Resource Management
This programme is designed to build on candidates understanding of the theory and practice of human resource management techniques. The course provides a professionally focused and research informed blend of academic and practical information, encouraging critical reflection on current approaches in the field.
Postgraduate diploma in personnel and management, or a postgraduate diploma in management studies, or an equivalent qualification, plus at least 7 years relevant work experience.
Core modules: dissertation; hrm in context; managing human resources; research methods; skills of the manager/consultant Option modules, candidates choose 2 of the following chartered institute of personnel development (CIPD) modules: employee relations; learning and development; organisational analysis, design and development; people resourcing; reward management. Applicants can also choose 2 from the following additional option modules: assessment and individual differences at work; designing and delivering training; employment law for hr practitioners; international personnel management; knowledge management; management development; managing culture and change; managing diversity and equality in employment; strategic personnel and development.
Assessment methods include written assignments, portfolios, presentations, examinations and a dissertation.
