Vigiling with the Dying
This course allows students to reflect on their own professional practice in writing and performing ritual for the dying through a critical and self reflective engagement with ritual and performance studies theories.
Normally a 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree in a related subject, and experience of vigiling with the dying.
Indicative modules: contemporary approaches to death and dying; death, dying and pastoral care in world religions; performing rituals (creative and critical methodologies in vigiling with the dying).
Assessments include weekly study skills tasks, a field report, a dossier, self-reflections document, essays and constructing a vigiling ritual with a critical rationale.
