Digital and Visual Communications

The MA Digital and Visual Communication offers study in a broad range of digital and visual communication theory and practice. The Course attracts students from a wide range of disciplines and from all over the world, giving it a strong international flavour. The current cohort comes from as far afield as China, Nigeria, India, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Poland, Greece and Germany, as well as the UK. The course gives you the opportunity to develop your creative design abilities but also equips you with marketing and branding skills and knowledge essential for a career in the competitive market place that is International Visual Communications. Areas of specialism are: - Graphic Communication - Illustration - Animation - Computer Games design - Multimedia Design - Design for Advertising - Photography - Film and Video

Entry requirements

MA: A good Honours degree in an art and design-related subject, or a combination of relevant professional experience and formal qualifications. A good standard of written and spoken English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent). Offers are subject to a portfolio review.

Course modules

Typical modules include: introduction to postgraduate practice; critical, contextual and theoretical enquiry; understanding digital and visual communication practice; creative enquiry; professional practice and enterprise; critical, contextual and theoretical frameworks; defining digital and visual communication practice.

Assessment methods

Students are assessed through a mixture of written assignments and creative studio projects. Students are normally fully supported during studio practice and tutorials to raise the quality of their work to Master's level.
