Midwifery Studies

This programme will provide you with a critical insight into contemporary and global midwifery issues that will challenge and develop your professional practice. It will contribute to the enhancement of health and social care through inter-professional collaboration. It will also develop your skills to act as an advocate and facilitator for change using an evidence based approach.

Entry requirements

MSc: NMC registered Midwife practitioner; Recent Midwifery practice; Recognised Midwifery degree; Applicants who do not have a first degree will have to demonstrate recent evidence of study at level 6 or equivalent midwifery experience.

Course modules

Promoting normality in childbirth; challenges to midwifery; examination of the new born; contraception and sexual health; leadership and management; evolving health and social care agenda; service improvement project; global and international perspectives in midwifery; decision making for advanced practice; advanced enquiry for nurses, midwifes and ahps; leadership and management; the critical professional; evidence based practice project; research dissertation; consultancy project.
