Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Theory

This course enables current mental health practitioners to further develop their conceptual and theoretical understanding in the field of psychological trauma and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR). This programme is validated by EMDR Europe and contains full EMDR Europe Training, along with a suite of other modules.

Entry requirements

Possession of a 2nd Class Honours degree in a related subject or an equivalent relevant professional qualification. Mental health professionals: clinical psychologists (registered with HCPC of PSI); counselling psychologists (registered with HCPC or PSI); psychiatrists (MRCPsych, SpR, SHO); community psychiatric nurses; registered mental health nurses; psychiatric social workers. Counsellors/psychotherapists MUST hold accreditation or have submitted their application for accreditation for 1 of these professional bodies: BABCP; BACP; UKCP; IACT/IACP; Association of Christian Counsellors; British Society for Clinical Hypnosis; National Council of Psychotherapists (mental health practitioners). In addition a requirement for entry includes 2.2 Honours degree in an applied mental health related discipline or for those without a 1st degree evidence of Acquired Prior & Experiential Learning (APEL) which must include the above eligibility requirements.

Course modules

EMDR Europe training level 1,2,3 and 4; EMDR with complex clinical populations; wider applications of EMDR through scripted protocols; current issues in EMDR practice and research; clinical supervision of EMDR professional practice; advanced research analysis 3; dissertation.
