Executive Leadership and Management

The course aims to develop business leadership and senior management skills and understanding, ensuring a critical appreciation of the theories, tools, techniques and applications of leadership and management in the students' organisation. It will enable them to lead more effectively and manage change in their organisation, using resources efficiently and appropriately in the strategic decision making process. The course aims to improve personal effectiveness, contributing to improved organisational performance, and thereby enhancing the quality of management as a profession. The programme focuses upon applied learning, encouraging students to relate new knowledge and skills to real leadership and management scenarios. This course is offered to corporate clients only.

Entry requirements

Previous experience of management in either a commercial or public sector environment although not necessarily previous exposure to business and management studies; 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent in any subject and at least 2 years of business/management experience at a senior level. The IELTS score for international applicants is 6.5 (with no less than 5.5 in each component).

Modules: leadership in management (leading self and team); leadership concepts; coaching and mentoring; marketing strategy; corporate strategy (planning to win); operational strategy (delivering business efficiency); a strategic approach to finance; leadership dynamics (motivation and trust); executive leadership; leading organisational change; performance leadership; leading and managing change; managing corporate reputation; managing for sustainability; work based project; customer relationship management; smart planning and selling; leading a sales team; employee involvement and well-being (getting the best from your staff); attracting, recruiting and retaining talent; finance for non-financial managers (understanding the numbers); ethics and corporate governance; innovate to win (dare to be different); business process improvement; project management; supply chain management (corporate needs and relationships); ethical leadership; information technology security; business intelligence; dissertation; research methods.

Assessment methods

Assessments will focus on professionally relevant projects, reports and presentations related to relevant areas of leadership and management in organisations.
