The Department invites applications for the PhD in Linguistics in any of the main areas of research in which the department is active: forensic speech science; language variation and change; phonetics and phonology; psycholinguistics; syntax and semantics. PhD candidates may have an additional (writing-up) period of up to one year after the expiry of their registration.
Applicants require a UK 2.1 or international equivalent in a relevant subject.
A range of scholarships and studentships are available at postgraduate level. Some scholarships are funded by the University (such as the York Master's Opportunity Scholarship) and some are funded by Research Councils, alumni, businesses and charities. Please check with the provider for details.
