Corporate Social Responsibility with Environmental Management

The context of the programme is international, reflecting the increasing trend towards the globalisation of business organisation and the transnational nature of environmental problems faced by the corporate sector and regulators and policy-makers. You will be introduced to the major challenges faced by decision makers when implementing corporate social responsibility policies in the real world and you will examine the consultancies helping organisations achieve their corporate social responsibility objectives. By the end of the course you will have developed the essential skills associated with business and financial management and managing sustainable organisations. The programme is suitable for those aiming for careers in management both in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. The programme incorporates a range of modules in business and environmental management, which are taught between October and May.

Entry requirements

You should have at least a 2.1 degree in a relevant subject such as management, finance, environmental science or geography. If you have a 2.2 degree in a relevant subject as well as additional experience, such as work in environmental management, then we will also welcome your application. You will need a good level of mathematical or statistical ability in order to follow the quantitative and financial modules; you can demonstrate this with an element of economics, accounting or finance in your degree. If youare a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability. You need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you are applying to.

Modules include: Tools for environmental assessment; corporate social responsibility 1; business information systems; financial management; international political economy of business; corporate social resposibility 2; qualitative research methods; climate change adaption; environmental governance; ethical marketing and sustainability; social and environmental account; dissertation; quantitative research methods.

A range of scholarships and studentships are available at postgraduate level. Some scholarships are funded by the University (such as the York Master's Opportunity Scholarship) and some are funded by Research Councils, alumni, businesses and charities.
