Philosophy, Politics and Economics

The course offers a balanced and integrated education across the philosophy, politics and economics disciplines; it is constructed around an inter-disciplinary module with contributions from all 3 departments; the course provides students a foundation in economics and research skills, and offers a wide range of philosophy and politics option modules; The interdisciplinary nature of the School of PEP postgraduate courses means you develop a wide range of transferable skills.

Entry requirements

The MA is open to those with a good 1st degree (i.e. an upper 2nd or equivalent) in any subject. It is possible for students with no prior knowledge of economics or mathematics to take this course without having to attend the economics summer session. If you're a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability. You need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you're applying to.

Course modules

Core module includes: The PPE of social choice; research skills for PPE; applied microeconomics 1 or economic analysis for PPE; development economics; dissertation. Plus modules from: Politics; economics; philosophy or PEP.

Assessment methods

Exams, essays and a dissertation.
