Supervision available in the following areas: Crime, criminal justice; demography; disability studies; employment, unemployment and the workforce; environment; e-social policy; families, children and young people; gender and ethnicity; governance, delivery and evaluation of public policies; health policy and provision; housing, homelessness and urban regeneration; inter-professional and inter-agency working; older people; poverty and income protection; quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation methods; social exclusion and inclusion; social work practice; violence and abuse.

Entry requirements

You will be normally expected to hold an upper 2nd or 1st Class Honours degree, although if you have other relevant experience, you can discuss your options with the Director of the Graduate School. If you wish to pursue research on a social work topic, you should also have a good background in social work theory and practice. Likewise, if you wish to do research in social policy, you should have a firm background in the subject. If you are a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability. You need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you are applying to.
