Sociology (Bioscience and Society)
This degree enables students to study within the science and technology studies unit (SATSU) which is an internationally recognised social science research centre exploring the dynamics, practices, and possibilities of contemporary science and technology.
Applicants require a UK 2.1 or international equivalent in the relevant subject; a good undergraduate degree in a social science discipline, or in a discipline related to the research area in which the applicant intends to work. For applicants whose 1st language is not English, the Department sets an English language proficiency level of 7.0 in the British Council's IELTS test with at least IELTS 6.0 in writing.
A range of scholarships and studentships are available at postgraduate level. Some scholarships are funded by the University (such as the York Master's Opportunity Scholarship) and some are funded by Research Councils, alumni, businesses and charities.
