Accounting and Financial Management
This specialist Masters degree is intended to build on your existing knowledge of accounting and finance. The programme concentrates on the role of accounting and finance in organisational management and will provide you with a thorough grounding in accounting, finance, financial management, financial reporting, financial markets and investment and risk.
Applicants require a 1st degree (2.1 or equivalent) in any of the following: finance and/or accounting; other degrees where there is a substantial management and finance/accounting component (at least 2 accounting and 2 finance modules) or a record of relevant work experience/ professional qualifications. Applications will also be considered from candidates with a good 2.2 (or equivalent) and at least 2 years relevant work experience. For students whose first language is not English, we normally require evidence of English language ability.
Modules include: critical perspectives in accounting; advanced financial accounting; managerial economics; advanced management accounting; financial strategy and governance; qualitative research methods; quantitative methods and data analysis. Optional modules include: social and environmental accounting; financial markets and investment; managing public finance; accounting and risk.
A range of scholarships and studentships are available at postgraduate level. Some scholarships are funded by the University (such as the York Master's Opportunity Scholarship) and some are funded by Research Councils, alumni, businesses and charities.
