Accounting and Financial Management

This specialist Master's degree is intended to build on your existing knowledge of accounting and finance. The programme concentrates on the role of accounting and finance in organisational management and will provide you with a thorough grounding in accounting, finance, financial management, financial reporting, financial markets and investment and risk. The programme will provide you with the knowledge and skills you will need for a career in the financial service industry or financial consultancy.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a good 1st degree (2.1 or equivalent) in finance and/or accounting, or other degrees where there is a substantial management and finance/accounting component (at least 2 accounting and 2 finance modules,) or a record of relevant work experience/professional qualifications. Applications will also be considered from candidates with a good 2.2 (or equivalent) and at least 2 years relevant work experience. If you are a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability. You need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you are applying to.

Course modules

Modules include: Critical perspectives in accounting; advanced financial accounting; managerial economics; advanced management accounting; financial strategy and governance; qualitative research methods; quantitative methods and data analysis. Optional modules include: Social and environmental accounting; financial markets and investment; managing public finance; accounting and risk.
