Social and Public Policy

This course is ideal for professionals in organisations that develop or implement social policy and public policy. During your studies you'll develop the skills and knowledge to influence policy and you'll link public policy theory to concrete examples of social policy.

Entry requirements

Upper second-class honours degree or equivalent qualification. However, if you have relevant work experience with good academic potential you may also be considered. For applicants whose first language is not English, the minimum University English language requirements of IELTS 6.0 (with at least 5.5 in each of the four language components) or the equivalent are required.

Course modules

Social policy analysis (20 credits); globalisation and social policy (20 credits); social policy: evidence, ideas and institutions (20 credits); introduction to research methods (20 credits); dissertation workshop part 1 (10 credits); dissertation workshop part 2 (10 credits).; comparative social policy (20 credits); housing and social justice (20 credits); work, welfare and citizenship (20 credits).
